The Indian community in Nigeria warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday night during his visit aimed at strengthening the bilateral ties between India and Nigeria. This visit is a pivotal occasion for enhancing economic, cultural, and diplomatic collaboration between the two nations.
Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Modi engaged with members of the Indian diaspora, including the Marathi community, who expressed their happiness over the recent recognition of Marathi as a Classical Language. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi stated, "In Nigeria, the Marathi community expressed joy at Marathi being conferred the status of a Classical Language. It is truly commendable how they remain connected to their culture and roots."
In another tweet, he shared his feelings about the visit: “Heartwarming to see the Indian community in Nigeria extending such a warm and vibrant welcome!" This visit marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Nigeria since 2007.
