Mike Tyson Says He's Made About $30m Off Evander Holyfied Bite

In the 25 years since the bite heard ’round the world, Tyson estimates that he’s made nearly $30 million off of the shocking incident.
On the most recent episode of the “Checc’n In Podcast with Big U” Tyson talked about his entry into the cannabis industry by selling ear-shaped weed gummies in an homage to the famous Evander Holyfield incident.

I got fined 3 million for that and, I might have made 30 million since that happened,” Tyson said. “From that bite. You know how important that was for people!”
On June 28, 1997, Tyson and Holyfield fought in their widely anticipated boxing rematch. The match is remembered for one of the wildest moments in boxing history when Tyson bit off part of Holyfield’s ear.
Tyson was disqualified from the match and lost his boxing licence, although it was later reissued. Tyson was fined $3 million for the incident.
He later said that the bite was in retaliation for Holyfield head-butting him multiple times without penalty.
Tyson is one of six men ever to regain the Heavyweight Championship after losing it, joining Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon, George Foreman, and Holyfield. He regained the WBA and WBC titles in 1996.
Tyson retired in 2005, finishing his career with a 50-6 record along with two no-contests. He was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.
