World Cup Qualifiers: 'Bonke Did Very Well' – Super Eagle Coach Reserves Special Praises For Malmö FF Midfielder
It can be revealed that Super Eagle Coach, Gernot Rohr, gave his stamp of approval to Innocent Bonke even before the Malmö FF midfielder made his Super Eagles debut against Cape Verde.
Nigeria Super Eagle coach, Gernot Rohr, has praised Malmö FF's midfielder, Innocent Bonke, for his outstanding performance in the midfield against Cape Verde.
Following the 2-0 victory against Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, some important members of the team had to leave as they had to comply with the UK’s Covid-19 protocols.
Unfortunately, Nigeria’s midfield trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi were part of that group. Their absence left Rohr with very limited options in the middle of the park, with only Innocent Bonke and Kingsley Micheal available for the game against Cape Verde.
Bonke was making his first appearance for three-time African Champions in the match and he gave a good account of himself. He pulled off a commanding show in midfield, dictating the rhythm of the game for Nigeria. His effort was crucial as he helped the Super Eagles cruise to a 2-1 victory.
Following the match, Rohr praised Bonke's effort. “Bonke did very well,” the German tactician told the media.
Bonke was born on January 20, 1996. Bonke, 26, joined Malmö FF in 2017, he has been a consistent performer for the Swedish side since his arrival three seasons ago.
