Euro 2020 Semi-Final: England Thrash Denmark 2 - 1 To Set Up Final Clash Against Italy

England have reached a first major final in 55 years after seeing off Denmark at Wembley.

It doesn’t usually end well for England when they reach the semi-finals of a major tournament. Since a 2-1 win over Portugal in the 1966 World Cup the Three Lions have been beaten twice by Germany on penalties (Italia 90 and Euro 96) and 2-1 by Croatia in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

England beat Denmark 2-1 in extra time in the second semi-final of UEFA EURO 2020 to enter the final of the Euro Cup, where they will face in-form Italy on 11 July.

Mikel Damsgaard gave Denmark the lead in the 30th minute at Wembley Stadium, but England equalized in the 39th minute with a suicide goal from Simon Keir. The score was 1-1 after the first half. In the second half, both the teams could not score a single goal and the match went into extra time.

Denmark looked increasingly tired as the match wore on, and England were able to capitalise as Sterling weaved between two men in red to draw a penalty in the first half of the added 30 minutes.

Kane stepped up to take the spot kick and saw his initial effort saved by Schmeichel, but he was able to fire the rebound beyond the Leicester City shot-stopper to send Wembley into frenzy.

England made it to the final of the Euro Cup for the first time, having finished third in 1968 and 1996. England have a golden opportunity to win the Euro Cup for the first time in front of their home crowd, but they will face Italy in the final, who currently hold the record of playing consecutive matches without defeat.
