"They cheer you as long as your success is seen by them to be beneath theirs. But once your success overshadows theirs, their attitude to you changes.
"They only love the underdog, not the over-dog. This is the main reason why people love the dead more than the living.
"While you are alive, you are a threat to people. Your success intimidates them.
"And if they praise your success while you are alive, their praise may add fuel to your rise.
"But when you are dead, you are no longer a threat. And so the praise comes… when you no longer need it!"
