Terrorism Tag: Taqiyya Allows Muslims To Lie To Non-Muslim About Their True Beliefs – Reno Omokri Slams Pantami

Reno Omokri,  a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the renouncement of terrorists' statement made by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.

It would be recalled that the minister better known as Sheikh Pantami in the North has been facing serious heat from Nigerians following some sermons he preached some years back before he became the minister under this administration. Some of the statements linked him to terrorism where audios and videos of him saw him expressing his allegiance to Al-Qaeda and terrorism.

It is no doubt that the minister is currently being haunted by his past positions, and utterances about terrorism. This has led to many Nigerians calling him out to apologize publicly and mounting on President Buhari to immediately sack him.

After many calls for Pantami's resignation, the minister finally threw in the towel on Saturday, as he admitted that he was a teenager and had little understanding of world terrorism when he made those comments in favour of terrorism.

According to the minister, he said he made some of those comments when he either in his teens or in the university, and had little evidence about terrorist activities at the time. He added that he now knows better.

But despite his renouncement of his past statements, some Nigerians still cast doubts about the sincerity of his current position on terrorism. One of those who does not believe the minister's renouncement is a former presidential aide to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Omokri said Nigerians should not be deceived by Sheikh Pantami's latest stance on terrorism. He, therefore, asked those who cared to seek for more knowledge to read principle of  Taqiyya. Taqiyya is a precautionary denial of religious doctrine and practice in the face of excessive criticisms, trials or persecutions. He urged people to read and study extensively on Taqiyya to verify his claim about Pantami's current statement.

Omokri said,  "To understand Dr Isa Ali Pantami’s current statement claiming that he no longer believes in his former pro-terror stance, in support of which he once said “we are all happy whenever unbelievers are being killed” and for which he praised Osama Bin Laden as being “a better Muslim than I”, you need to study the principle of Taqiyya.

"Taqiyya allows those Muslim who practice it, to lie to non-Muslims about their true beliefs, in a bid to escape the consequences of their previous utterances or actions.

"Please do not take my word for it. Study the principle of Taqiyya by yourself.

"According to the principle of Taqiyya, when you lie to unbelievers about your true beliefs and intentions, in order to escape sanctions, then that lie is not conceded as haram in the eye of God.

"And for those Muslims who will attack me for saying this, I preemptively ask you if I have lied. If I have not lied, my next question to you is this: How can you defend this man? Now that you are carrying out your Ramadan fast, ask yourself if these statements will be acceptable to you if they were made by a follower of Christ against Muslims.

"Remember that prophet Mohammed said in the Hadiths that “none of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.” Are the people of the book not your brothers? Are we your enemies? Did we not help you in 613 AD when the Quraysh wanted to kill the Muslim Ummah in Mecca by granting Muslims asylum in the Christian Kingdom of Aksum in modern-day Ethiopia?

"Would you want a follower of Christ to wish you what Dr. Pantami wished us? We are watching and reading."
