Racism & Bullying: Soccer Legend Thierry Henry Becomes Latest Star To Leave Social Media Due To Harassment
Arsenal icon Thierry Henry said Friday he would no longer use social media until the various platforms address racism and bullying, which have recently driven several celebrities offline.
In a statement on his Twitter account, Henry explained he would step away from all social media "until the people in power are able to regulate their platforms" with the same "vigor and ferocity" they use to combat copyright infringement.
Henry, who has 2.3 million followers on Twitter, stated the immense amount of racism and bullying is "mental torture to individuals" that is "too toxic to ignore," adding "there HAS to be some accountability."
His tweet received nearly 100,000 likes in nine hours and was retweeted more than 18,000 times.
So sad to read what is happening to black in this century.
